This story saddens and angers me at the same time. Antoinette Nicole Davis of Fayetteville, North Carolina, is the mother being charged with child abuse involving prostitution, human trafficking and filing a false report. She is accused of selling her 5 year old daughter to Mario Andrette McNeill so he could molest the child. It is speculated that McNeill is the ex-boyfriend of Antoinette's sister. McNeill turned himself in and is charged with first degree kidnapping. Antoinette reported her daughter Shaniya Davis missing at 6:53 am last Tuesday morning, claiming she hadn't seen the girl since 5am that morning. A nationwide search was launched and surveillance footage showed McNeill carrying the 5 year old Shaniya into a Comfort Suites hotel.
Police say Shaniya's body was found 7 miles from the hotel where she was last seen. Police are still holding details to the case as the cause of death has not yet been released. Antoinette's bail is set at $51,000 and she faces up to 40 years in prison. Shaniya lived with her father Bradley Lockhart for 4 years and had only been with her mother for 3 weeks. Lockhart says he only let Shaniya move with her mother because she had a stable home and held a job for 6 months. Bradley appeared on CBS' Early Show hours before his daughter's body was found. My prayers go out to him and the rest of Shaniya's family.
